CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --  A quiet street in Rogers Park was filled with Chicago Police officers and concerned neighbors Sunday morning, after a man was shot dead while walking his dogs.

"I'm confused and I'm scared."

It happened in the 1400 block of West Sherwin. Chicago Police said the suspect may have tried robbing the 73-year-old man, before shooting him in the head and running away. Moyo Adeolu lives across the street.

"My dad walks the dog early mornings right before work and I'll walk her around one in the morning," Adeolu said. "I think I'm okay because I have my dog, but I guess you're not okay. I think we're all going to be a bit more cautious now."

Alderman Joe Moore spent much of the morning talking with residents who looked on beyond the crime tape.

"Certainly, there will be additional patrols in the area in the coming days to assure the residents that this won't happen again," Moore said. "This is absolutely appalling."
