Kentucky Man Killed, 4 Hurt In Hit-And-Run Crash On Eisenhower Expressway

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Five men were struck by a vehicle, one of them fatally, early Sunday when they exited a taxi that had broken down on the Eisenhower Expressway, according to police.

About 4:45 a.m., the five people got out of the cab in a westbound lane near the Homan Avenue exit ramp. As they walked up the ramp, a vehicle struck them from behind and then drove off,  Illinois State Police said.

Anan Ahmed Halbalawi, 27, of Morehead, Kentucky, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The other four men were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle.
