CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Republican Governor Rauner and Democratic challenger J.B. Pritzker are now running commercials that take strong jabs at each other.

The J.B. Pritzker campaigns’s ad is part of the campaign's “Rauner Failed Me” theme, focusing on highway construction worker Brent Williams. Williams said he lost his job when Bruce Rauner failed to pass a budget for two years.

"When I'm not working I'm not making money, and roads and bridges are not being fixed," he said in the ad. "Along with me there's 20,000 other workers being laid off."

He said others are in the same position, and questioned why would they want another four years of a similar situation.

In the “oldie but goodie” category, Bruce Rauner’s campaign is back on with a commercial featuring FBI wiretap recordings between Pritzker and jailed ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich.  In this one, Blagojevich jokes about appointing controversial pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright to fill President Barack Obama’s old senate seat.

The ad plays up Pritzker’s amusement.
