CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Thanksgiving is a busy day at emergency veterinary clinics.

Veterinarians even have a special name for the day after Thanksgiving.

"Everybody talks about Black Friday with shopping...we call the day after Thanksgiving 'Brown Friday' because of all of the diarrhea cases we see," said  Lori Ross, a veterinarian at North Central Veterinary Emergency Center in Chicago.

She said that stomach ailments are the most common reason for vet visits on Thanksgiving. The cause? Intentional treats pets shouldn't be eating or food animals tasted when no one was looking.

Another pet hazard this Thanksgiving?  Alcoholic beverages. Ross said pets are curious, and they may want to test out an unattended glass of wine.
