CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Tired of negative political ads?

One Indiana woman is, and she’s done something about it, if only to give herself some peace of mind.

Linda Messmer is not only tired of how unpleasant it’s become to watch TV or listen to the radio because of the all the negative political ads, but she also feels that a really bad example is being set.

The Brazil, Indiana woman went to her local radio station, WAMB, and recorded her own ad.

She opens by saying she’s not a politician and she’s not running for office.  She says she’s always voted.

And then she says,  “I am sick and tired of being bombarded with all the negative, hateful, mean-spirited ads.  To all the candidates who are running these kinds of ads I say, stop it.”

She adds, “I’m Linda Messmer and I approve this message.”

She paid for the ad to air.

Messmer said the negative ads are showing young people “this is how you get what you want. You don’t respect anybody, you throw mud, talk about them, lie about them.”
