CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Crowds endured Thursday's cold as they lined State Street to watch Chicago's 85th annual Uncle Dan's Thanksgiving Day parade.

Hello Kitty, Fred Flinstone and other festive balloons bobbled over parade-watchers, and more than 5,000 walking participants -- 20 marching bands, 16 theatrical productions, 11 equestrian troupes, more than a dozen floats and various cultural acts, inflatables and celebrities -- delighted the crowds.

Two main stages featured many performances, including those from Miss Saigon, Cirque Dreams Waistwatchers the Musical! and The Harlem Globetrotters.

Bugs Bunny served as the Grand Marshal.

This isn't the first time a fictional character has held this honor. Ronald McDonald was named grand marshal for last year's parade.
