CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A week after elderly residents of a CHA building filed a complaint demanding that grab bars be installed in bathrooms, those bars were put in -- almost five months after they were promised.

Again and again, residents said they asked when the grab bars would be installed in their units.

Four senior residents of the Mulvey Apartments in Lakeview were in newly rehabbed units. But there were no grab bars. And the BGA says that even though the bars were approved by the CHA, they weren't installed.

"I have a bad leg and I have to hang onto the shower door track and the faucet to get in and out of the shower," said Eugene Wright, 79. "Which is dangerous."

Wright said after attorneys for the Shriver Center filed a complaint against the CHA last week, the bars were installed this week.

He says his was installed on Monday.
