DES PLAINES (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three people were killed and two others were injured in a crash Sunday evening in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

A vehicle was traveling southeast on Rand Road about 6:05 p.m. when it struck the passenger side of a vehicle that was turning west onto Golf Road, causing it to careen off the roadway, police said.

The three people who were riding in the vehicle that was struck, 20-year-old Amra Dilji, 48-year-old Edije Dilji and 57-year-old Serif Dilji, were all pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. They all lived in Des Plaines.

Autopsies conducted Monday found all three all died from injuries related to the crash and their deaths were ruled accidental, the medical examiner’s office said.

The driver of the vehicle they were riding in was extricated and taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Lutheran General for minor injuries, police said.

There was no indication that either driver was impaired or intoxicated, police said.
