CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The last remaining hotel strike in Chicago is now entering its sixth month.

In the beginning, there was 26 hotels caught up in a workers’ strike. Employees wanted year-round health insurance.

After about a month, they all settled -- except for workers at the Cambria in Streeterville.

Hotel bellman and union spokesman Sam Yolo said the hotel wants housekeepers to each clean 15 rooms, two more rooms than they are now.

"They can barely go home and have a good night's rest because they are in pain,” Yolo said Thursday.

Doorman Noel Guzman said it's been a tough five months. He said a couple of workers have had to cross the picket line, including an older man with diabetes.

"He's got grandbabies to take care of, so it's real life struggles over here, you know? Everybody's got their own story.”

The union said more than three dozen workers are still on strike at the Cambria.

WBBM is trying to reach hotel owners for comment.
