CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Emanuel said in two weeks, Chicago will switch to a better system to deal with issues like graffiti removal and tree-trimming.

"We will flip the switch and the city of Chicago is going to go to a modern, mobile, smart 3-1-1 system,” the mayor said Monday as he attended an event in Humboldt Park.

Under the new system, a resident will be able to take a photo of graffiti or a tree that needs trimming and send the photo to 3-1-1 from their smart phone. Emanuel said the service will be better and quicker.

“You won't get confusion when, sometimes somebody thinks that's graffiti and it's actually public art,” the mayor said.
