CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Navy Pier and Guaranteed Rate Field are certainly not as busy as they normally would be at this time of year, but both places will have a lot of visitors this week, for a good cause.

On Monday, Navy Pier will host a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross, with more than 100 donors expected to attend.

On Friday, The White Sox and American Red Cross, in partnership with Anheuser-Busch, will hold a blood drive at Guaranteed Rate Field to help maintain a much-needed supply of blood in the wake of the COVID-19 public health crisis. The blood drive donation schedule at Guaranteed Rate Field is completely full. Donations are by appointment only and walk-ins will not be accepted.

White Sox Ambassador and 1983 American League Rookie of the Year Ron Kittle is scheduled to donate blood during the event.

The White Sox blood drive is part of a larger partnership between Anheuser-Busch and the American Red Cross to utilize available arenas and stadiums nationwide as temporary blood drive centers.

In March, the American Red Cross said nearly 2,700 blood drives had been canceled across the country because of coronavirus concerns, resulting in about 86,000 fewer blood donations.
