Mississippi Murder Suspect Nabbed In Zion

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man wanted by authorities in Mississippi in connection with a deadly shooting was busted Tuesday by authorities in north suburban Zion.

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said a number of law enforcement agencies made the arrest at an apartment building in the 2200 block of Ezekiel Avenue.

"Up on the second floor, they found an individual that matched the description for a murder out of Mississippi,” he said Wednesday.

That individual was 40-year-old Deshaude Jones of Ocean Springs, where a man was shot and killed at a bar earlier this month. Curran said Jones previously lived in Zion and is a documented street gang member.

"Obviously he's a very dangerous individual," Curran said. "With gang members coming up here and occupying areas along the lake, we want to make sure that they're not welcome and there's extra patrols out there. We're not apologizing for looking for reasons to arrest these people."

Bond has been set at $10 million pending extradition hearings, while Jones is set to appear in court next week.
