CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago has a new CPS Citywide Spelling Bee Champion.

His name is Aaron Chang. He's a seventh grader at Audubon Elementary in Roscoe Village.

After 21 rounds, he won Thursday afternoon.

Last year and the year before, Aaron came in second. Then, the stumbling block for Aaron was “alla prima.”

“And then the year before that I got out on the word ‘skerry,’ which is not spelled how you might think."

WBBM: S-C-A-R-Y?

By the way, Aaron's winning word was “Pembroke,” which a variety of Welsh corgi.
