CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot and her opponent, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle appeared together Wednesday at Rainbow-PUSH.

Toni Preckwinkle didn’t acknowledge any of the bitterness of the campaign.

Lori Lightfoot said it was “spirited.”

They two sat together, prayed together and shared a podium at Rainbow-PUSH and pledged to work together to make Chicago better.

Preckwinkle noted they talked about some of the same challenges during the campaign. Lightfoot said she looks forward to working with Preckwinkle on those challenges.

They’ll work together, Lightfoot said, to bring the change "Chicago voted for and desperately needs."

Lightfoot said, "today is a new day for all of Chicago."

The room was crowded with primarily African-Americans, past and present elected officials, ministers and others.
