CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot is joining in the chorus of praise for Bears’ kicker Eddy Piñeiro, and his game-winning field goal Sunday against the Broncos.

WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports from City Hall.

“I’m a huge Bears fan. There’s no secret about that. I was at the game, the playoff game last fall. I think we were all crestfallen with the so-called double doink,” Lightfoot said, referring to Cody Parkey’s missed field goal attempt at the end of last season.

Lightfoot said she’s happy for Pineiro, who aced a 53-yard field goal – with one second remaining -- to push the Bears past the Broncos on Sunday.

“Talk about pressure,” Lightfoot said. “He performed a great, great service, not only to his teammates but to the city, in kicking that field goal with one second left. That’s high performance, and I’m proud of him.

“But we’ve got to do better on offense.”
