Man Pays For Court Fines With Stolen Credit Cards: Prosecutors

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Naperville man is accused of using stolen credit cards to pay other people's court fines, as well as his own.
The DuPage County State's Attorney's office says 28-year-old Brenton Thurman was caught after he'd paid about $6,000 in court fines owed by other people and by him.
Prosecutors say Thurman paid those fees with stolen credit cards and that he took cash from other people who may have thought he was using that cash to pay their court fees.
Thurman was charged with identity theft - a Class 3 felony.
A judge set Thurman's bail at $100,000. That means he would have to come up with 10 percent to bond out.
And as the prosecutors wrote in their statement to media: He was required "to show that any monies used for bail are not of illegal origin."
