Man Charged After Car Crashes Into Crystal Lake Church

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A far northwest suburban church was badly damaged overnight when a car crashed into it and ended up inside.
The crash happened shortly around 12:18 a.m. Thursday morning in Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake police and fire crews responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven into the Living Waters Lutheran Church, located at 1808 Miller Road.
Upon arrival, police discovered a silver 2007 Lexus left the road, drove onto grass, and crashed through the wall of Living Waters Lutheran Church, causing significant damage to borth the building and vehicle. A picture from police indicates the entire car wound up in the church.
No one had been in the church at the time.
A witness told police the driver had taken off.

About a half hour later, police located the suspected driver on foot about a mile away, in the 1600 block of Autumncrest Drive. He was uninjured and refused treatment.
Daniel Lang, 41, of Lake in the Hills has been charged with drunk driving, crashing into private property, and not reporting it, as well as traffic violations.
Lang posted the required bond and was released from police custody.
