GENEVA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A historic home in Geneva has a new address.

The Miller-Gully home, which was built in 1839, was moved about a mile from its original location to a new spot in the far west suburb (from 122 E. State Street to  822 East Side Drive).

Adam Gibbons, a local historian and writer, bought the home for $2 and had it moved to keep it from being demolished.

He spoke to WBBM Tuesday just as the house was arriving at its new location. He said he’ll renovate and then rent it or sell it.

He lives another historic home.

Gibbons said there were a few "roadblocks.” Some were opposed to the move, and there were some traffic tie-ups because of it. Overall, he said, the community was supportive.
