CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A young man, who frequented an auto parts store to make extra cash, was fatally struck by a pickup truck Monday afternoon in West Chatham.

Chicago police believe it was no accident when a black Ford pickup truck sped through the parking lot of the Auto Zone at 87th and South Lafayette around 3 p.m. The driver, they said, took aim on Carlos Posadas, 22, who was there, performing work on a green Honda Accord.

The driver of the Ford and Posadas knew each other, authorities said. Police are looking into reports that the two had an argument a day earlier over work to be done.

Posadas was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. His body was brought to St. Bernard Hospital.

The driver of the pickup drove off after striking the man, but was later taken into custody, police said. Charges were pending.

A neighbor tells CBS 2 Posadas is a father of two and you'd often see him outside the AutoZone, helping to install parts, in exchange for money.

"He was a nice father," the man said. "He worked every day."
