CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Put your words into your idol's mouth.

Cameo.com's personalized messages from stars big and small are Made in Chicago.

Steven Galanis launched Cameo.com 18 months ago with the goal of connecting fans with stars in something far more fun than seeking an autograph.

"Today we have over 3,000 different people on the platform and we have done 50,000 videos," he said.

Everything is online, each star sets a price, and the stars have seven days to accept or reject requests.  Galanis said the reject rate is just 3 percent.

"We today source most of our talent through things like Twitter or Instagram DM, going direct to the talent themselves versus going through their agents or representatives."   

He urges the stars to ham it up.

"Every single cameo is authentic and personalized." 

And he said it's already taking second-rank athletes, actors and public figures to fame.

"It exponentially scales the awareness of them and it allows other people to say wow that is really cool that they did that," Galanis said.
