CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lightfoot is promising a new strategy to help revitalize the South and West sides of Chicago with an infusion of $750 million over three years.

Lightfoot on Monday said Chicago will marshal investments through philanthropic organizations, businesses, community groups and—yes—government in 10 different Chicago neighborhoods.

The INVEST South West initiative promises to work with community groups to focus planning and funding on areas that are focal points like retail areas, transportation and public spaces.

Much of the money is already meant for efforts like this, but a lot has never actually been used, the Lightfoot Administration said.
