CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor-Elect Lori Lightfoot is now outlining her proposals for restructuring the Chicago City Council’s Committees, and there would be some big changes made.

Here’s what is expected in a Lightfoot Council Committee plan. Loyal supporter and progressive leader Alderman Scott Waguespack would become Finance Committee chairman, the post once held by Ed Burke. South Side Alderman Pat Dowell would chair the Budget Committee now chaired by Carrie Austin. Lakeview Alderman Tom Tunney would chair the powerful Zoning Committee.

There will be a new Committee on Ethics and Good Governance to be chaired by North Side Alderman Michele Smith. Alderman Gilbert Villegas will be Lightfoot’s floor leader, the first Latino to hold that post in Chicago’s history.

Alderman Matt O’Shea will keep the Aviation Committee chairmanship and Downtown Alderman Brendan Reilly will be the Council’s President Pro Temp.
