CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO)  -- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Thursday that she’s spoken with Eric Trump about the incident where a waitress at a local restaurant allegedly spat on him.

Lightfoot said it’s gracious of the president’s son not to press charges against the woman but called the waitress’ action “repugnant,” adding that no one deserves to be spit on. The alleged spitting attack happened Tuesday night at an upscale bar in the Fulton Market neighborhood.

Lightfoot said she hopes the employer takes appropriate action.

The mayor spoke with reporters after voluntarily taking an HIV test at a Walgreen’s at 34th and King Drive on the South Side to highlight National HIV Testing Day. She encouraged others to get tested in an effort to help stop the spread of the disease.
