CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Suzana Mendoza is hoping you will help re-elect her Tuesday as Illinois comptroller.  But she may have another race in mind -- soon.

A video has surfaced from a Chicago ad agency that shows Mendoza seeking voter support -- not for comptroller but for Chicago mayor.

Mendoza campaign staffers speculated that the ad was stolen from the agency where it was produced.

Mendoza explains it this way in a statement to CBS-2:

"I am focused on the Nov. 6 election because too much is at stake for the people of Illinois," she wrote.

She then goes on to say, "I am considering a run for another office and I have taken steps to prepare for that should I choose to move forward but I have not made any formal decisions."

Notice that she did not name a specific race in her statement.

Republican challenger Darlene Senger reacted almost immediately, calling Mendoza a "liar" and demanding that Mendoza drop out of the comptroller's race.

Mendoza spent 10 years in the legislature before becoming Chicago city clerk. She was elected comptroller four years ago.
