CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Laver Cup is this weekend in Chicago. It will be three days of world-class tennis.

Hundreds of fans waited Wednesday at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park to watch the introduction of the two teams.

"The man versus man competition has just engrossed me,” said Marian Futrell, who came here from Tallahassee to watch the Laver Cup.

"I was drawn into the personalities from an early age."

The captain of Team Europe is 62-year-old Bjorn Borg.

"We're here to defend our title, and we're going to keep the cup in Europe. Thank you,” he said.

"You know, he was my greatest rival over the years,” countered the captain of Team World: 59-year-old John McEnroe.

"But some things, I think they call it ‘fake news.’ So, I'm just going to leave it at that."

Also on Team World is Kevin Anderson, originally from South Africa.

Seated near the front of the Pritzker Pavilion was his wife, Kelsey, who is from the north suburbs.

"We met at University of Illinois. Kevin played on the tennis team there and I was on the women's golf team,” she said. “We've known each other since our freshman year of college, and I've been traveling with him on tour for the last five years."
