CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A unique shop in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side is closing its doors by month's end.

For 26 years, Hollywood Mirror at 812 West Belmont Ave. has sold vintage costumes, clothes, toys and many other eclectic items, but sales have been declining in recent years.

Morgan Drase has worked there since 2008 and told WBBM that her store and others like it offer something the Internet does not.

"I don't know how you would replace what Hollywood Mirror is online because vintage online is always more expensive,” she said.

But more so than the cost, Drase says Hollywood Mirror represented something special.

“We're the last weirdo holdout,” she said, noting the closures in recent years of offbeat stores such as Uncle Fun and He Who Eats Mud. In the immediate area, The Alley and the Belmont Army Store closed within the past year.

"I don't know if people's tastes are changing, it's just that little stores are closing,” Drase said.
