(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Kane County say they've busted a significant marijuana growing operation.

WBBM's Jim Gudas reports.

Someone noticed something suspicious at a warehouse at 250 West Nebraska Street in Elburn and told a Kane County Sheriff's deputy.

Sheriff's spokesman Pat Gengler said the deputy on Tuesday watched the warehouse, also noticed something suspicious, then later spotted a vehicle from the warehouse and talked with the driver, Maskin Gokhman of Grayslake.

“The deputy was a canine handler, so he had his dog walk around the car. The dog indicated there might be something inside the vehicle. The dog was correct – there was about a half a pound of marijuana inside,” Gengler said.

Police later found about 200 live marijuana plants and about 68 pounds of harvested marijuana in the warehouse, he said.

Gokhman now faces various drug-related charges.
