CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- About one hundred people gathered at the Bean in Millennium Park on Monday, under the banner "Jewish and Proud."

It's part of a worldwide display of Jewish pride -- organized here by the American Jewish Committee -- in response to anti-Semitism.

Laurence Bolotin is executive director of the AJC in Chicago. He was wearing his kippah, or yarmulke, something he doesn’t normally do.

“I certainly had thoughts in my mind this morning of, ‘Am I going to be looked differently on the train to work? Am I going to feel, as identifiably Jewish today, unsafe?’

"I don't.  But in the back of my mind, though, there's always the feeling of what could happen.

"But that's the feeling that we need to really try to help people to understand that they need to be leading with who they are. And never being afraid to do that."
