CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It appears Democratic candidate for governor J.B. Pritizker is going to pay back more than $300,000 that a Cook County watchdog says he made through property tax fraud.

A leaked report by the Cook County Inspector General accused Pritzker of receiving $330,000 in tax breaks through a scheme to defraud.

His family removed toilets from an unoccupied mansion they owned adjacent to their primary residence, lowering the property value.

Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner’s re-election campaign and Rauner’s political allies jumped on this, but on Tuesday came word that Pritzker is in the process of paying the money back.

A Pritkzer campaign spokesperson says Rauner would be better to worry about medical company Sterigenics, which is accused of polluting the west suburbs -- a company to which the governor had financial ties.

Republican officials say the governor no longer has any ownership interest in that company.
