SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- JB Pritzker will be sworn in Monday as Illinois’ 43rd Governor in a ceremony that will include the other statewide officials, and a lot of pomp and circumstance.

The governor-elect will take his oath, along with the other constitutional officers at a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday. But first, he and running mate Juliana Stratton will take part in an Interfaith Prayer Service at First Presbyterian Church.

JB Pritzker and his wife MK greeted well-wishers Sunday at the Old State Capitol Building. Among them was suburban Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who talked about the two things he’d like to see Pritzker accomplish.

"One end the warfare, end the turmoil right now; and I think JB Pritzker has that personality where he can kind of calm things down, lower the temperature, lower the rhetoric, and get people at the table creatively thinking about next steps. And then two, how do we make sure that we grow and strengthen the middle class?" Krishnamoorthi said.

Illinois senior U.S. Senator and Springfield resident Dick Durbin said the Pritzker Administration faces extraordinary challenges, but he’s confident that new Governor will be up to the task.

"Pritzker ran a campaign that told me he was running to lead this state, every corner of this state and to do his best to challenge these issues, that a lot of people have been unable to solve - a tough assignment," he said.

Durbin said he will help in any way he can.
