CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Stocks closed slightly lower Wednesday as Wall Street digested a fresh batch of quarterly earnings as well as President Trump's State of the Union address.

The S&P 500 lost 6, the NASDAQ shed 26 and the Dow Jones industrial average closed down 21 points, settling to 25,390.

"There wasn't really a lot moving the market. I think it was kind of a day to step back and digest some of the recent gains," Paul Nolte, Portfolio Manager at Kingsview Asset Management in Chicago, said.

He adds that he finds shares of gold producers and international stocks extremely attractive at current levels.
