At Issue: Emanuel Trying To Deflect From CPS Scandal, Dorothy Brown Says

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayoral challenger Dorothy Brown says Mayor Emanuel’s announcement of high-speed transit project is little more than a diversion from the public schools’ sex abuse scandal.

WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports from City Hall.

Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown says it’s no accident that Chicago’s deal with Elon Musk’s Boring Company to build—and pay for—high-tech Express Transportation to O’Hare Airport comes as Emanuel deals with problems of sex abuse of Chicago Public School students.

“I think it was a calculated distraction and a smokescreen,” she said.

The mayor may be trying to change the narrative, Brown said, but she adds people can’t allow that because the children are too important.

Brown -- one of several announced challengers to incumbent Emanuel -- is the guest on “At Issue,” which airs 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
