CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 98-year-old man from Chicago proves it's never too late to become a sports sensation.

John Hunt moved from Ireland to Chicago 70 years ago, but he never lost his love of hurling and his favorite team in Limerick.

Hurling is a sport where players use a stick to hit a small ball toward the opponents goalpost.

Hunt went back to the old sod last month to watch Limerick play for the coveted Liam McCarthy cup.  He was the only person in the stadium who watched Limerick play for the cup in 1940 and 1973, and that led to an invitation to appear on Ireland's Late Late Show.

He's the honorary president of Chicago's Gaelic Athletic Association.
