LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Logansport fire that killed six people, including four children, is being investigated as a possible criminal case, according to the Cass County sheriff. Authorities say one body has been found so far in a burned northern Indiana home where officials believe four children and two adults died.

State police Sgt. Tony Slocum said late Wednesday morning that crews were still working to search the house just outside Logansport where the fire was reported about 2 a.m. He didn't know the age or gender of the person found.

State Fire Marshal James Greeson told reporters that three of his investigators were at the scene to help determine what caused the blaze. He said an excavator was pulling apart the structure so that crews could get inside the house.

Slocum said investigators were considering all possibilities to what led up to the fire about 70 miles (115 kilometers) north of Indianapolis, in a place that has no fire hydrants.

Two adults escaped the fire and were taken to a local hospital.
