Impaired Motorist Caused Crash That Killed Lyft Passenger: Cops

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Police say a motorist under the influence may be responsible for an accident that killed a Lyft passenger and injured two others. 

Police say a 25-year-old man was at the wheel of a Toyota Avalon that crossed over the center line heading southbound on the 1600 block of North Humboldt and struck a Lyft Camry carrying a driver and two passengers head-on.

One passenger was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. Conditions of the others in the Camry ranged from serious to good.

The driver of the Avalon was taken under police guard to Mount Sinai Hospital. 

Lyft issued a statement in which it said is offering the family full support and law enforcement full cooperation.
