CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Myles and Precious Brady Davis approached the Illinois Department of Public Health after Myles, who is transmasculine, carried the couple's child to full term and gave birth to a little girl last month.

Despite giving birth, Myles Brady Davis wanted to be officially recognized as the father and asked for that designation on the birth certificate.

A spokesman for the department said it will accommodate Myles Brady Davis and other transgender dads.  The agency's updating its system so it no longer automatically names the parent who gives birth as the mother on the birth certificate.
