SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Senate is expected to take up a major gambling bill Sunday afternoon after the House approved the measure late Saturday.

The legislation would establish a Chicago casino, which has been talked about for years, as part of an expansion that also includes slot machines at horseracing tracks and Chicago airports.

Also, the measure would authorize legalized betting on professional sports, in time for the upcoming football season.

The bill, as written, apparently has tentative support from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, 670 The Score reports.
