CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- While Florida mulls a decision on whether to exempt itself from Daylight Saving Time, an Illinois state lawmaker wants to do the same.

WBBM's Michele Fiore reports.

State Rep. Steve Andersson, R-Geneva, says the idea to do away with the time change came from one of his constituents, who is tired of going back to the "dark time" in the autumn.

Andersson's proposal to use a uniform time scale throughout the year has been in the State Rules Committee for some time already.

With Florida moving forward with something similar, Andersson is again asking Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, D-Chicago, to consider giving a shot.
