CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A big race has been given little attention in the upcoming election.

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke is running to retain a 10-year term from the First District, which covers all of Cook County.

Madeleine Doubek with the Better Government Association wants to change that. She thinks people need to pay close attention because the Illinois Supreme Court will likely be deciding big issues like redistricting and income-tax reforms, term limits and whether juveniles should be allowed to get life sentences.

Sixty percent of everyone who casts a ballot must say "yes" to retaining Burke in order for her to keep her job on the highest court of the state.
