(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day, and in the Loop -- outside the CIBC Theatre -- the cast of “Hamilton” was registering people to vote.

Actor Miguel Cervantes, who plays the title role as the immigrant founding father, joined Cook County Clerk David Orr.

Cervantes actually was among the voters who were getting registered. He said he was last registered to vote in New Jersey, for the 2016 presidential election.

Inside the lobby, passerby Kristina Greenhalgh was also registering to vote. She's an immigrant from Lithuania.

“I became a citizen last year, and I'm very excited to be part of voting,” she said.
