CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A custom-made handgun with President Donald Trump’s face emblazoned on it was among 17 firearms Chicago police confiscated in Englewood this weekend.

The Chicago Police Department Twitter account shared an image of the gun Saturday evening in a tweet that read: “Outstanding work on the part of 7th Dist. Officers @ChicagoCAPS07 in the recovery of 17 firearms thus far this weekend. #ChicagoPolice.”

Some commenters, replying to the Chicago police’s tweet, speculated that the handgun is a Glock 9mm. The gun has Trump’s face embellished over an American flag on its grip and “Trump 45th” and replica of the presidential seal on its barrel.  The police also shared images of some of the other handguns found.

The Chicago police 7th District station is located in the Englewood community on the South Side, which has been wrought by gun violence this summer. On Saturday, a 14-year-old boy was among eight people -- three of them children -- shot in Englewood. The teen and three other people were killed. Sincere Gaston, a 20-month-old baby boy, was shot and killed while riding in the car with his mother in the community last weekend. His shooting death, and those of other toddlers around the city, prompted fed-up business owners to offer cash rewards for information about the shooters involved in those crimes.

On Thursday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced during a press conference that Chicago police and their law enforcement partners would take an "all-hands-on-deck approach" to curb the uptick in violence that generally occurs during the Fourth of July holiday weekend across the city. As of Sunday afternoon, 67 people have been shot, 13 of them fatally, this weekend in the Chicago area.
