CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Green Bay Packers fan lost a round in federal court Thursday afternoon when a judge declined to make the Chicago Bears let him wear his gear at a pre-game warmup field event on Sunday at Soldier Field.

High School teacher Russell Beckman said he’s disappointed he can’t wear his Packers ensemble during the restricted event.

"That's what this whole life is,” Beckman said. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. And sometimes you just can't tell. But no, it is fine."

WBBM: Won't you feel kind of naked - for lack of a better word?

"Well, the Packer jersey will obviously have to be in my possession while I'm on the field. But I'm going to obey the judge's order.  I'm a responsible citizen,” Beckman said.

He is 56 but says he has "the attitude and energy and enthusiasm of someone much younger."

He says he will proceed with his broader case against the Bears, hoping he will be allowed to wear the Packers gear at future events.

Beckman has not been shy about wearing his love of the Packers on his sleeve. Past pictures show him loaded up with color-coordinated beads; sometimes he has dyed his beard green.

As for Sunday, he hinted he may still get a laugh. He said "some people might raise an eyebrow" at what he will be wearing.

Beckman added: "I'll be conforming to the rules."
