GENEVA, Ill. (WBBM NEWDRADIO) -- There was a rare shooting in West suburban Geneva last night.

The Geneva Police Department is continuing to investigate the reported shooting that occurred at 9:13 p.m. on Sept. 15 at Public Storage, 2324 Gary Lane.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 30-year-old St. Charles man was suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his neck and back. The man was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he continues to be treated for his injuries, police said.

The man’s 26-year-old girlfriend, who was not injured during the shooting, spoke to police about what happened but that still remains unclear.

This is the first shooting in Geneva in two years.

No suspect information is currently available, and no arrests have been made at this time. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was the intended target of the shooter and that it was not random.

Geneva Police is asking anyone with information to call the department’s Investigations Division at 630-232-4736.
