CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The city of Aurora is leading efforts to raise money online for the families of the five victims killed by a gunman Friday at a manufacturing plant.

The purpose of the Go Fund Me page is to “relieve the extreme financial burdens families are experiencing during this difficult time,” an overview statement says.

Killed in the rampage were Russell Beyer, Vicente Juarez, Clayton Parks, Josh Pinkard and Trevor Wehner.

The goal of the fundraising page is $50,000 and that amount has nearly been reached as of this writing.

A vigil was planned to honor the shooting victims at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Several officers were injured in their confrontation with the gunman; he died, but the officers are recovering.
