CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The weather this week has been more January-like than November-like, and people are taking notice.

According to the National Weather Service, the average normal high for Nov. 28th is 41 degrees. The average low is 27.  Today's high is predicted to be 27. Some suburbs saw the mercury dip as low as 12 degrees overnight.

"Winter has come very early this year," said Mark Ocuto, who was bundled as he headed towards the Main Street Metra station in Downers Grove. "To be honest with you, you just got to block it out of your mind. Just go through the day. Get through the day. It’s Chicago. It is what it is."

Raquel Montesa said she’s been wearing two pairs of socks because her toes have been so cold.

"You just have to get used to it — I just couldn't wait for summer," Montesa said.

Dawn Barrett, manager of the coffee shop at the Downers Grove Metra station on Main Street remembers last year that this day it was much warmer. She said it was her boyfriend's birthday and "it was 45 [degrees>," she said, laughing.

The frigid temperatures have gotten Joanne Beck’s attention. Beck said she's trying to adjust by getting out her winter coat earlier than planned.

Tricia Miller said the weather had her thinking about heading someplace warm.

"I was just dreaming of going to Florida this morning — just somewhere warm," Miller said.

But others share a positive outlook on the weather. Porsha Smith calls herself a “winter baby” and said she loves the temperatures.

"I am a winter baby, I don't mind it," Smith said.
