(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The flu usually tapers off by now - but the CDC says influenza is still around, even this late in the season.

Take one county, for instance, Kane County.

Its health department spokesman, Tom Schlueter, said Monday there are more flu cases now than the county has seen at this point in several previous years.

"Typically we see peaks in January and February, and then it kind of tapers off. But what we're seeing now is that there's still some pretty high activity out there at this time of year, which is not typical."

And the answer to the question: Is it too late to get a flu shot?

It’s hever too late, Schlueter said. He adds: “Whether or not it's available, I don't know."
