October 13, 2018 - 3:20 pm

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The first official freeze of the season blanketed the Chicagoland area during the wee hours of Saturday morning, forecasters said.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, low temperatures dipped into the upper 20's to mid-30's, with O'Hare dropping to 32 degrees and Rockford to 29.

The region is right on target for the normal period when freezing temperatures hit Chicago.

But the weather service also said that residents will see a more classic autumn weather pattern in days ahead. Temperatures are expected to hover in the 50's for much of the week.
