CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The 100 Club of Chicago, which helps families of the first responders who die in the line of duty, is making arrangements to visit the families of two police officers killed Monday night.

"It's almost unimaginable what this Chicago Police Department is experiencing now,” Joe Ahern, the organization’s CEO, said.

He spent Tuesday morning at the 5th District, where Officers Eduardo Marmolejo and Conrad Gary were based. Both died Monday when they were struck by a commuter train while pursuing a shooting suspect.

Ahern described the district’s roll call:

"I'm looking at these young men and women that are dedicating their life to protecting all of us, and thinking, ‘Where do they summon the courage and the strength and the commitment to continue in this kind of environment?’"

The widow of each officer will receive $50,000. For more information about the 100 Club of Chicago, click here.
