CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A survey suggests fewer companies plan to hold holiday parties this year.

Sixty-five percent of employers responding to a survey by Challenger, Gray & Christmas say they plan to hold a holiday party.

That's the lowest figure in the survey since 2009, when it was 62 percent.

While the 2009 figure was largely blamed on the economy, that's not the reason the number is down this year.

The survey claims in the wake of the #MeToo movement, many companies are increasingly concerned about sexual harassment or other inappropriate behavior.
