(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Officials in Lake County say they've traced the source of Legionnaires disease in a senior living facility in Vernon Hills.

Meanwhile, there is word that the number of reported Legionnaires cases in the state of Illinois rose 20 percent from 2018 to 2019.

Five cases of Legionnaires were reported at the Brookdale Vernon Hills facility; one was fatal.

The Lake County Health Department says Legionella bacteria was found in "one apartment, a pool filter, an irrigation system and a decorative water fountain."

The Illinois Department of Public Health says the number of reported cases has been rising statewide. Last year, there were an estimated 612 cases, up by more than 100 over the 510 case reported in 2018.

So far this year, there have been 27 cases and two deaths.
